VBS--Day 2

First things first, here are some pictures of Ms. Diana's classroom. She has it set up neat with lots of centers (story, play dough, crafts, blocks, dress-up) to keep the little one's busy!!
Today our story was about how God took care of  Joseph and once again the kids did so well listening and answering their questions.  Ms. Sherwin did an awesome job teaching as always!!

Craft for tonight was coloring our iron on's for our t-shirts, the kids LOVED doing this

I even snuck out and got some pictures of my kiddos. That is the only thing I hate about teaching VBS, I don't get to take pictures or be with my kids. They on the other hand, love not having me around!

Re-check

Hayley had her 3 week follow-up today with the Infectious Disease team, thanks to our lovely little hospital stay from earlier in the month. We finally got a good report and clean bill of health, here is our 2 hour visit in a nut shell: Blood levels are normal, medicine will be finished by Monday, no more blood work, infections are gone, ears, nose and lungs are clear, and we healed nicely!! THANK YOU JESUS!!!

We decided that since we were there to go ahead and do the last blood work up so we wouldn't have to drive into town Friday. Hayley was super excited that she got a "Hooter's Bandaide".....she is her father's child and couldn't wait for me to take a picture and 'blog' about it!! The things we do for our children!!

Look at how proud she is!

VBS-- Day 1

Well, Howdy Y'all, welcome to "Saddle Ridge Ranch!" we are so excited that you can join us on our  awesome adventure that we call Vacation Bible School! Hope you are ready for a fun week, filled with lots neat Bible Stories, games, singing, dancing, crafts, and  food... are you ready to learn?? So pull on your boots, grab your hat, saddle up your horse, and enjoy the ride!!!! YEE HAW!!!

You guessed it, VBS started and we had a great time on the ranch, there were so many cowboys and cowgirls who joined us this year--the whole middle section was FULL!!

Hayley was very excited when Savannah showed up, they were in the same class this past year!

It's my second year of not doing the 2 & 3's, I am doing the 4 & 5's and I LOVE IT!! Kinda missed not being with the kids (had one who started to cry because I was not going to be with her and had been for the past 3 years)  that I have every Sunday and Wednesday, but the break is much needed. Diana and her army of helpers are doing a wonderful job!!

Each night we start by parading into the sanctuary, saying the pledge to the Bible, American and Christian flags. It's such a BIG deal to these kids to get the honor of carring one of these and tonight both Hunter and Hayley were asked!!

When all the "official business" was taken care of we headed downstairs to our classrooms! This is half the fun of Bible School, decorating your room--the kids LOVE it!!

Thanks to the Spencer County Summer Feeding Program, our kiddos get dinner each night FREE OF CHARGE!!! It's such an awesome program and we are so very thankful that we get to be part of it!! Tonight's dinner was turkey/cheese sandwich, carrots/dip, grape applesauce, Frito's and milk...all out of a sack, the kids love the fact that they get their meals out of sack. Guess its the little things in life!!

Our story tonight was about Adam/Eve and creation, our kiddos were are smart, they were telling us the story! Guess they are learning in Sunday School and Team Kids, sometimes I wonder if they actually take anything in. All 18 of them could answer questions--us teachers were so PROUD!!

We made cowgirl/boy hats for our craft tonight. Kids seemed to really have fun with this and can't wait to wear them tomorrow!!

Sleep Over

Pop told the kids that he had a special surprise this weekend for them: Lukie was going to have his FIRST sleep over at Pop and Nana's!!! Angela and Faith had a bachlerlotte party to attend over night in Indiana so he got to finally join in the sleep over fun!! From what the kids told me it was so much fun to get to play a whole day with Lukie, they went swimming, played in the yard and with hot wheels, and even had lots of 4 wheeler rides!! They are some pretty spoiled grand kids--Faith is too, but Angela says she is still too small to do any of the fun things (boo on her!) Maybe next time they are in town she can join in the fun!!
After church Nana had the Wethington's over for lunch and to visit with Lukie and Faith. I didn't get to come due to VBS starting tomorrow, I had to get my room set up and ready, but Chelsey Nay-Nay sent me this cute picture of the cousins (minus Faith) having fun! Thanks Chelsey!

Work Par--tay

Friday night we gathered at the Perry's house to work on church's float for the Mt. Eden 4th of July Parade (yes, we will be having it on July 3rd in Mt. Eden, come one, come all!) complete with some yummy homemade ice cream!! We had all kinds: chocolate, vanilla, banana, orange sherbet and pineapple. The kids and I had a bowl of each, it was too yummy to pass up!!

I didn't get to take too many pictures because we really were busy with getting things done--I will have to "steal" some pictures from other people and post, but don't worry I will have pictures of our complete float on parade day!!

Renea (Gartland) had come up with our theme: "Freedom began in a manger then went to the cross" and then Todd and Michelle (Nethery) took it from there and boy did they out a lot work into it!! A manger scene, barn, hay, water fall, mountains, crucifix--the whole nine yards--it looks so awesome!!

Alan, Hunter,Hayley, Grant, Perry, Sammi and Noah
(just a few of the many who kiddos who were there)

Karen, Holly and Johnny

I can't wait until Saturday when all the finishing touches are on it and you can see how much hard work sweat went into it! We are truly blessed with lots of talent adults and kids in our church!

Shelby County Pool

I took the kids and Clayton to the Shelbyville Aquatic Center Pool and it was so much fun. I honestly don't know who had more fun the kids or I!  The pool is perfect, it goes from 0" to 3' 1/2"--both Hunter and Hayley can touch so I am not so stressed about that and it also has a nice little "kid area" where the little ones can play and it doesn't go deeper then 2'...perfect for Clayton to think that he is with "big kids." Oh, I almost forgot, it has a froggy slide in the 3' section, a open tube slide that dumps into the 3' 1/2 section, a water mushroom, and two fountains.

the BIG slide

Hunter wore that slide out

Clayton and I went down the slide too--
he did so well and thought it was fun!!

Clayton loved to throw dive sticks

and find them!

Every hour and half or so they had a break time no kids were allowed in the water, just adults. It was SO nice--it gave me a chance to make the kids rest, bathroom breaks, snacks and yes, reapply the sunscreen.

We even had fun taking some pictures!

The kids loved to run back and forth to the mushroom--they giggled so hard!

so proud he can touch without water wings!

Hunter played with some school friends

Clayton was scared of the water in his face, so I kept working on splashing him and before we left he thought it was funny to blow bubbles in the water!
