OK, so I have to admit, that I could really care less about Oaks/Derby. Way back in the day when I worked at UPS, a group of us girls went to infield at Oaks/Derby and it was lots of fun, but nothing that I would care to do again. Funny how things change when you get older and have kids, possibly the lack of money? priorities? knowledge? been there done that?
Well this year, it has been kinda cool around our house this week thanks to Hunter. His teacher (Ms. Sienicki) has a son, Stouch, who pooled his money along with 23 other friends and each bought a "share" of a horse at auction. Their investment and going out on a limb landed them with a contender it the "most famous 2 minutes of sports"--THE KENTUCKY DERBY!!
Think about it, how many people can say that they personally know someone who had a horse run in the Derby? You all may not think it's cool, but we do!! All week he has came home talking about Stouch's horse, the odds, how they all are going to Derby, getting interviews--pretty cool stuff with local ties out here in good ole' Spencer County!! (We might just make the news for something worth while that doesn't have to do with David Jenkins for once!)
Although Nobel's Promise didn't do as well as hoped for, it was a rush to watch and cheer him on!! Congrats to all the owners of this horse for a race ran well!!!
