Trick or Trunk

It's been a while since we have been up to church on Halloween for the simple fact that we usually go in
Pop's neighborhood. When you live in the country like us, its kinda hard to go house to house so the local churches have Trick or Trunk. Basically its where people park their vehicles and people go from car to car and to the few local houses next door. The kids had lots of fun, got way too much candy, ate some yummy chili and hot dogs and played lots of fun games!

My football player and Urkel

Nathan was so cute as a biker!! Can you believe that Bro. Josh and Diana dressed him like this? We are starting to rub off a little more each day. He looks like a true Red Neck's son.
Lana was a fairy princess
Me and my babies

the parking lot was full of cars, candy and games
Lori brought the kids up towards the end of the night and good thing they were cute, because Clayton was so awful--he didn't get his nap out! Will post pictures of their costumes when Lori sends me some tomorrow.

Harvest Party

Friday the kids had their "Harvest Party" aka Halloween Party at school. It was such a nice treat to be at school and see all the kids and staff dressed up. This is one of the many reasons why I love TES so much, the faculty and staff go ABOVE and BEYOND for the kids. Heck, half of them are still kids themselves, so that makes it all the more fun!!
Hayley is on a Family Matters kick, she thinks that Steve Urkle is the funnies thing that has ever lived. She decided a while back that she was going to be Urkle and it was hilarious to see and hear her. She has the voice down to a T--totally makes the outfit 1000 times better

Hunter was going to be a UK football player but changed his mind on Wednesday that he'd be a UL player instead. Guess Pop talked him out of the UK! He is at that stage where its almost too cool to trick or treat and all the other things that go along with that age. (Breaks my heart he is growing up too fast but Brian is loving it--go figure) He did let me talk him into wearing some of his hunting clothes on Friday so he was dressed at the Great Deer Hunter .
The kids both came home with more candy and crap to last forever (too bad most of it will be in the trash come next week) Hayley's class got to watch a Scooby Doo movie with a special treat of Capri Suns and Cheetos!! Hunter's class got to enjoy some free time with lots of treats!

The 3rd grade team was dressed up:
Things 1 and 3, (Mrs. Buynak--Hunter's HR teacher-she is due in May), Thing 2 (Mrs. Catlett)

Halloween Dance

Tonight was the big Halloween Dance at school for the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. Hunter was more then excited to go dressed as an U of L football player. I was not chaperoning this (I know you are surprised!) but did send him with my camera and strict instructions to give to Sherwin for some pictures. I am so blessed that I have such a wonderful best friend who helps me out with pictures and looking after Hunter while I was not there! They must of danced all night long, he was worn out when he got home, should be interesting to see how long it takes him to get up in the morn.

Bookmark Winner

We received a letter today from school congratulating Hayley as the winner for Red Ribbon Week Bookmark Contest.  Kindergarten and 1st grade students were to design a bookmark after a classroom lesson focusing on Stranger Danger. Their goal was to help warn other children to stay away from strangers, cigarettes, alcohol, and/or drugs.

Catch Up

Its been a wild and crazy week and I am just now finding time to play catch up from our week. Be sure that you go to Older post to see them all! Happy Reading

Report Cards

Can't believe that its time for report cards already, seems like school just started last week.  I am so proud of the kids, Hunter's lowest grade was a 97 and Hayley got all "A's"  This is the first year that Hunter actually gets actual letter grades (A B C D F) so he was super pumped about that and making the Principals List!! I just hope and pray this continues!

Fishing

We took advantage of Brian being off tonight and another beautiful evening and went fishing. It's so nice to have  the lake (Taylorsville) at your back door. All we have to do is walk over the hill and there is the lake--its one of the many "perks" of living in the country. The kids love to fish and are always asking to go. I. LOVE. IT.

Most people's dog follow them, not us: our cat does!

the trees are so pretty
I've never seen the lake down this much, fishing was good

Hayley got cold and put on Brian's hoodie-
she found a turtle shell too. What a sight to see!

Kids showed Brian and I up we didn't catch anything, it was so worth it knowing they had fun.

Im so lucky

to eat this:
Fried biscuits, apple butter, fried chicken, green beans and chicken n dumplings
with
my boyfriend, Stephen, and his Momma
and

the rest of Ms. Sweazy and Ms. Forberger's class.

Go ahead and start whining that you didn't get to go to Huber's and eat their HEAVENLY food with some of the most awesome Kindergartners and their teachers! Well I did..neener neener boo boo and it was.GOOD!! Jealous yet??  I was asked to come along and help with the kids and I couldn't pass it up.  It was worth being totally exhausted, covered in dust, and even less of a voice (that's a blessing to many) because I love those kiddos, Ms. S and Mrs. F!!. Yes, I know that my kids have graduated Kindergarten, but I haven't! I love working with that age and the teachers are beyond wonderful as well!! We have developed a special bond and friendship that truly is a blessing from God and I thank him for that!

Hi-jacked

Hayley hi-jacked my phone this week at play practice and this is what I found:

Good thing Madison and her are so cute or else....

Eli

Since Lesley and Thom were in  Ethiopia this past week for their court hearing on their second son (they passed and hope to bring Baby Noah home in 8+/- weeks) and Eli
was staying with the Oedy's that meant that I got lots of playtime/kisses in!! It was long over due and we both had lots of fun being silly together.

Cookie Fun

I had been wanting to make come cookies with Clayton and decided that it would be more fun if the Oedy's and Eli joined us!  The kids were so funny to watch and seemed to have a good time. I was too busy helping the kids and putting cookies in the oven, so I stole these pics from Diana. Hey, what are friends for??

Clayton, Lana and Nathan

our cookies:
bats, cats, ghosts and tomb stones
Nathan loved to just eat the cookie dough

Clayton iced his bat cookie all by himself!

Thanks for coming and hanging out with us. I am so glad that we (I) can still play even though my kids are in school.
