Surgery

Wow, it's been a LONG day already, and I am SO looking forward to the kids bedtime tonight so I can be right behind them. Had to be at the Surgery Center at 6am, I had to leave the house at 4:45--that is waay to early for me to be up and functioning. I don't see how Brian works 9p-7a everyday--no wonder he is always tired! Last night Hayley took her bath and dressed in her jammies so that this morning all she would have to do is take her medicine and be carried to the car! I had to wake her up to get her weight and vitals!

on the way to the hospital

snuggling in the waiting room
(not bad for so early!)
The nurses and staff were wonderful--they all were so amazed at her medical history already and how brave she is!! I CAN'T begin to tell you all how tough she is, she NEVER shed the first tear or showed that she was the least bit nervous or scared. I think that bothered Brian a little...he was nervous for her. It is always hard when you put your child under and I still get nervous, but we are used to this and have gotten better each time as far as knowing what to expect! Like I said, the staff was wonderful and that helps SO much!

all smiles before surgery....
they brought in coloring sheets

Daddy's little girl
Brian met us, can you tell he is worn out too??

****insert surgery here******

Surgery went well, took a little longer then they hoped but hopefully have "fixed" the problem. Tubes went in both ears and there was lots of fluid/build up, Dr Coppula sent biopsies off to the lab just as precautions. Nasal Endoscope was "interesting", he could not go as far as he wanted to. Hayley has been on steroids/antibiotics for over a week and her sinus cavities are still very swollen and inflamed. He took pictures and will want to compare these in another 4-6 months. There is NO scar tissue or regrowth from her adenoids--he seems pleased with that. She does have some pollups forming, there is nothing they can do at this age, if they remove them now, there is regrowth and could cut off her airway even more, right now its 1/16 of a normal persons. Hopefully the tubes will allow for much needed drainage from both sinus and ears. We go back in 10 days for our FU. If everything goes well, she can return to school on Wednesday--she has cried more over missing school then anything else! Hayley is swollen from the surgery and in pain, but did eat a little and is sleeping on the couch!!

You can kind tell from that she is a little swollen in the cheeks, nose and under her eyes and very groggy
so proud of her Band-Aid

Thanks for all the prayers, calls, email and cards. You're the best!!
