Harrodsburg Drive-In

Brian took off the Friday of Spring Break so we took advantage of this and headed to the Harrodsburg Drive In!! When I was little I can remember going to the drive in all the time and what a special treat it was, complete with stove top popcorn in a brown paper bag and Subway or Pizza King on the way!!

The weather was a bit chilly, but it was so nice because not to many people were crazy like us and went. We took our blankets, bundled up and enjoy some much needed family time!

Honestly, I wasn't that impressed with Mirror, Mirror and was super excited to see The 3 Stooges.

Hunter is growing up so fast and these cuddle moments are few and far between. I take full advantage of them when I can!

Horse Fun

The kids are so much fun to watch with the horses, its priceless!!

 Never once have I had to ask for them to be turned out, walked, groomed or ridden, praying it stays this way!! Brian and I were working on the garden and I turned around to find this....

HORSES ARE A GIRLS BEST FRIEND!!

I literally had tears in my eyes. It was the sweetest thing ever. Hayley was telling them all her plans, the shows she was taking them to, the tricks she was going to teach them, treats she was going to feed them and the trails they were going to ride on.

Hunter and Hayley  started to pick grass and feed them out of his hands and they were giggling so hard. The horses loved it and did so well eating from their hands! We are getting some carrot cubes this week as treats for them and the kids are more then excited to feed them as well!!

Spitznagel Easter

We headed to Indiana for the Spitznagel side Easter celebration at Lapping Park--the weather was BEAUTIFUL!!! You know that your family is large and ever growing when you officially have outgrown a house!! We are one. big. happy. family!

 while others were busy hiding 600 eggs for 16 kids! That is NO LIE--these great grand kids are super spoiled!!

 Brian went with them and found a snake and let the kids pet it. No worries, it was just a cow snake! Yup, he got nephew of the year, once again!

This is one of the many reasons I love GG, cucumbers and onions are a MUST at any family function!! I can eat these all day long and am super glad that my kids and husband HATES these!!

And then madness begins.....lining up the kids youngest to oldest (1 year (Ryan) -10 years (Hunter))! There were 16 of the 23 great grand kids were there and it was a sight to see.

As if 600 eggs weren't enough, each child was given and number and then got to choose another prize from the "prize store" Yes, I love my crazy Hen's--they have prizes for everything

Breaks my heart to know that my kids are so grown up....

but will always be our little boy and girl.

These boys are something else to watch. I am SO blessed that even though we don't live close, they are SO  close when they get together. Pick up where they left off and love each other so much. Thankful that they are this way.

Easter wtih the Wethington's

We headed to Louisville bright and early to go to church at Unity on Easter morning. It has grown so much since when we went there (Hunter was 2 and Hayley was a baby) and now there are kids and babies everywhere!! After church we  headed over to Ma/Pa's for lunch and an egg hunt with the rest of the family.
**I looked at all my pictures and don't have a single family picture on my camera. I know that someone took some, so its just going to be finding who has it!! These will have to do for now**

Aunt Angela is super artsy crafty talented and made this cute Easter cucpcakes. The kids LOVED them and had no problem eating them, I thought they were too cute to eat.

Saturday afternoon was the PERFECT day to spent outside playing and riding our new horses!!

Hunter was hamming it up for me. Totally not like him, so I took full advantage of this occasion and snapped lots of pictures. I will spare you all of them!

Brian and I took about a 2 mile ride Saturday night, the weather was prefect and the horses did wonderfully. I was so relaxed when we got home, I think this needs to be our new nightly routine!

Road Trip

Brian has been looking for some horses ever since we had to put Lighting down last year. There are several that we have watched for awhile, but now that the weather is starting to break and he had a day off we decided to call and go look at one.  He loaded the truck and trailer loaded and I surprised the kids with an  Early Dismissal, we started Spring Break a couple of hours early!!  It was a 3-3.5 hour drive there and was beautiful, just on the other side of Natural Bridge and close to Moorehead!

The drive was SO worth it, these people are go sweet and I honestly feel comfortable about buying from them. They were so honest and upfront about every horse--sadly, there are few people like this  when you are dealing with buying and selling animals.  The kids wanted to "test drive" this one horse and the guy told them they weren't allowed because he didn't feel comfortable with them on that horse!! I was SO thankful and relieved.

We looked at 4 different horses and decided to take Ginger and Copper home with us!! Brian was excited (more so then the kids) because he had watched them both all winter long.

Brian on Copper
Copper is a 12 year old, sorrel, quarter horse mare, who stands 14 hands tall. She can flat get with it (Brian LOVES that about her) when you let her, and can be rode double, she is also very calm and just like Ginger. Hayley is already trying to talk Brian into turning her into her barrel horse in a couple years.

Ginger
Ginger is a 10 year old,  non-gated, Palomino mare pony, who stands 13.3 hands tall. PERFECT size for myself and kids. She is broke to ride, pull a cart and work. You can even ride doubles (two at a time) on her. They said that they have pulled logs with her, and I believe it. She is STRONG!! Sweet horse who is DEAD BROKE (there is NO FIGHT in her!!) He crawled under her, pulled on her tail, ears, lifted her feet and she wasn't phased one bit!!

They told us how Ginger would cart and pull and were adamant about showing us. Here they hooked her to a old pallet and were pulled around the field. The kids had a blast riding around like that!!
Both horses loaded and hauled beautifully, that makes a trip easier and less stressful. We all were so excited but worn out too, it was after 11pm before we got home with our newest additions! Can't wait to get to ride tomorrow!!
