Spitznagel Christmas

It was our year for Christmas at GG and Gramps!! I love that we get to still be part of this complete and utter chaos of 10,000 people running around, never ending line of food, cookies and drinks, the excitement of the little ones and Santa, singing Christmas carols, reading the bible and the endless mounds of wrapping paper from the pile of presents that are bigger then the tree!! I know that I am leaving lots out and for that I am sorry. Mostly,  I am thankful that my grandparents are alive and well and that we are still celebrating holidays with them, my crazy aunts/uncles and the endless cousins. I love you all

After dinner we all piled like Sardines (no joke) and started singing Christmas carols, youngest to oldest.

Santa must have heard us singing because he came to see everyone!

I love that we have always read the Christmas Story in the Bible. That was something that each of us "original" grand kids looked up to, our turn reading. Now that we are all grown, its time that our children read. Year after year, I always get teary eyed when listening to them read. Thanks GG and Gramps for starting this tradition many moons ago!

All the great grand kids were waiting patiently for Gramps to pass out presents.

Yes, we are such a large family that we have to open presents in 2 shifts: first the great grand kids and then the cousins, aunts/uncles. The kids never seem to mind leaving the room because they are always excited to play with each other and their new Christmas loot!!

Aunt Susie wrote and an awesome story about GG and Gramps and how they grew up/met/married. I definitely want a copy of this to keep so I can share with the kids as they get older. Well, in the story it talked about a pearl necklace that GG wore on her wedding day and then each of the 6 daughters opened their boxes and it was some of those pearls from GG's necklace. It was so AWESOME because there was significant meaning for each size and amount pearls, beads, etc. I wish that I could remember it all. How cool that my Mom and each of her sisters will always have a special necklace made just for them!

Thanks for another wonderful Christmas, its was so nice getting to spend time with you all!

Christmas with Ma/Pa

Christmas Eve we stopped by Ma and Pa's on the way to Indiana. As always we started out playing a game. I think this is called Tripoloy, it was lots of fun but took a long time to get the hang of it and then we had to leave. I love the fact that anytime we are together we play boardgames, so much fun and wonderful memories!

Brian got lights for his new cow trailer

Hunter got Bey blades...shocker

Hayley got colored socks. She has been in this stage of her life where if her socks match or match her outfit she will change them. She loves to be different and definitely marches to the beat of her own drum!

My package was so pretty I didn't wanna open it!!
I got some UK shirts!!

Chelsey has been living in Macau (Hong Kong) since August (and will be there until end of May)  she is SUPER smart (a McConnell scholar at UL) and landed this awesome job/experience of teaching English to students of another ethnicity. Well, we are spoiled and used to seeing her lots, so this has been a huge adjustment for all the Wethington's. Thank goodness for blogs, Skype, email and FB its been a little easier. She was on a 10 day break for Christmas and flew home...YIPPEE SKIPPY we all were so excited to see her!  She brought us back a box full of cool things: a beautiful bracelet, Macau candy, cool little doll house table/chair set, hand warmers and some other things that I am missing. It was so thoughtful.

It wasn't no time until Hayley and Chelsey were playing with all our new toys

This year things have been different, guess its just the growing pains of a close family. Regardless, we are SO blessed that we are able to spend time with our family, whether its a lot or a little,  and cherish those memories that we are able to make together. After all in the end, its family that really matters.

Fisher Christmas

Saturday we literally headed "Over the river and through the woods, to Grandmother's house we go" for our Fisher Christmas. I love that we all could get our schedule to coordinate and spend an afternoon/evening together with lots of yummy food, laughs, memories (and a few presents). We definitely had  our entertainment provided, thanks to Grandma and Grandpa, who got Hayley Just Dance 3. I am hoping that all these dancing games will pay off with a cheer leading or dance scholarship when she gets older.

For some crazy reason we decided to do family pictures right before everyone headed home. Not the best idea, I mean who wants to stand still after they have been wrestling, eating endless cookies, running wild, and playing with all their Christmas loot?!?! Next year, pictures before all the craziness begins!!
