Octoberfest 5k

Wednesday, was the 1st Annual October Fest 5K for the Lane Goodwin Foundation. (Indiana peeps: think Harvest Homecoming). Hunter said that he wanted to run this in honor of Dawson and Blake. Dawson is his classmate/friend who passed 6 months ago from brain cancer and Blake is a 6 year old boy who lives out by us that is in remission from brain cancer. Needless to say, this issue hits close to home for us.
I got him signed up and was told that he needed pictures for his jersey to wear, he was going to WIN this for them! Yes, I was emotional and he was too.

We did honor signs with the boys name on them to put along the way

Christopher Randolph from WAMZ was doing a live remote

Hunter and Tab, best friends

Mason (Dawson's little brother) wanted a picture with Hunter

Hunter and his track coaches from last year: Terri and J Hahn (she lost her husband in June '12 to brain caner)

And they are off....

I was standing at the 1500 mark talking to McKenzies momma, looked up and saw lights. My phone started to go crazy with texts and calls, Hunter and Tab were leading the race. (enter more tears here) I ran down to the park and watched them make the final leg--this was so emotional.
last 200 yards

I didn't get a picture of him crossing the finish line (I know bad Momma!) but have one beign sent to me.
He did awesome, WON the race with a time of 20.35 and Tab was 2nd with a time of 20.38!!! I couldn't be prouder. As soon as he crossed the line, poor thing, burst into tears. He said he "DID IT FOR DAWSON" that was Dawson's motto when he was sick and fighting. First person he wanted to call was Melody--it was a beautiful but emotoinal phone conversation!

Hunter and Melody (this is Dawson's Momma)

Hunter, Mel and Tab

WINNER of the 1st annual 5k!!

I am proud of Hunter for his determination and dedication--he is so strong willed and has his mind made up on many things--this is just one of them!  The HS CC coach texted me: "That was a hell of a race from what I hear, hated I missed it. So proud of Hunter for time tonight, that is what some of my Sophmores are running right now. Tell him to stick with it, excited for what is to come his way. I know that Dawson is smiling down on him"

Meet you at the pole

This was one of the most amazing experiences that I have seen from youth in a long time. Freely, these kids joined at the Flag Pole to pray for our Nation, Leaders, Teachers, Schools and friends. There were over 110 kids there and it was so moving to hear these kids pray aloud. Yes, I was in tears. Thankful that my children go to a school that supports this and were able to part of this awesome experience

Pink eye

Yup, Hayley was the luck winner of PINK EYE last week. Glad she got it before Disney!

Blue Mile

I went to Blue Mile to get fitted for some good runnign shoes. I am 8 weeks post surgery and ready to get back to normal. This walking thing is not cutting it for me, I MISS RUNNING!!!!
They have this super cool set up where you can get on the treadmill and they will video tape you walking/running they help pick out a shoe that is best fit for you.

These shoes are super comfy and feet great on my foot/ankle. Very light and cushiony. Not a huge fan of the color but its only a shoe, right?!

I decided that I am feeling well enough to start back running, heck with what they Dr's say!! I am limiting myself to 30 minutes on the treadmill every other day. My pace is very slow 3.2-3.5 but I have to start somewhere. I was proud of myself for doing 1.61 miles my first night

I have to say that it feels AMAZING--I can't wait to run again. Don't worry, I am going S L O W and steady--no more injuries or  surgeries for me!

Dedication

THIS BOY IS DEDICATED....3 miles in the rain BY CHOICE

MELT MY HEART

Curler fun

Ms Thang decieded that she wanted curlers in her hair

It did turn out really cute

I think she had more fun taking it down and playing with it.

She is always making me laugh!

CC cook out

I can't begin to tell y'all how thankful I am to be part of the CC family. There was a huge transition from elementary school to middle, its was harder for me then Hunter.  These group of CC kids are the best kids I could ask for. Hard working, dedicated, fun, serious, encouraging and friends. A huge part of my heart holds these kiddos in there.

They are logging anywhere between 30-45 miles in 4 days, they have a rest day (usually on Friday) the day before meets. Hunter says this is the hardest day because he LOVES to run. Practices are a perfect mix of hard and fun.

Coach decided that they needed a fun practice day, so they went to run the trails at the State Park in the rain (kids LOVED it) and we had a huge cookout and water balloon fight!

Hayley has been adopted by the team and they make her feel as if she is one of them. I do have to say, that she has been hanging in there running--we shall see what next year holds for her. She thinks she is just as big as the older girls and has to do the same exact thing they do. (Hints the picture below)

I am so thankful for this lady....Momma Michele

we have laughed together, stressed together, cried together and made a lasting friendship just like our kids. We laugh because everyone asks if Hunter and Tab are brother and sister--NOPE---they just fight and carry on like they are!

Morning with Mom

Blessed to share Morning with Mom breakfast with my little gal. Cherishing each moment I have, she's growing up so fast

Stalkers, Followers, Friends, Family----all the same

I have a confession to make.. I AM A STALKER!!! Its really a known fact with my other "stalker friends" and it brings me much laughter and smiles during the day.    Honestly, I have to say that I blame it on Janelle, she was one of the first blogs I ever read and then I started looking at her blog list and started to "stalk" some of her friends. Its amazing how close you feel to these blogger people when you follow them daily!
Hayley because obsessed with watching Alicia and Janelle's bellies grow bigger with their 3rd child and we would have to check on "Baby Nora and Baby Mazden" each day. One click lead to another, and Jaime Mac was found. This lady has me in tears from laughing so hard--she tries to be all rough and tough but she isn't at all. Love her and all her stories with cool titles--I am jealous.

For my Psych class we had to join twitter to see how people respond to certain tweets. Well, this opened a whole new world of fun for me and and my stalkers.

Endless hours of fun, I tell you! I had to write a post about it...

No worries, we have a stalker date planned in Nov and I can't wait!!
