Salsa making

Brian LOVES his Ma's salsa, I have to admit that its pretty durn good too! We have been waiting all year for our tomatoes to turn so that we can have a salsa making party. Finally, between the two of us we had enough ripe tomatoes to have our party!!

Hayley and I packed our goodies and headed to Louisville.

Let the peeling of tomatoes  begin:

32 quarts later, we were ready to add other veggies and start cooking

Passing the time by snapping beans and gather goodies from the garden

while someone was taking random "selfies"

This is a labor of love--it was hard work constantly checking, stirring, adding this and that,

but its worth it, smelling so yummy!

Hayley made sure that we added everything

We ended up with 10.5 quarts of delicious home made salsa!!

The salsa making queens:
Ma and Hayley

Shew...salsa making wears you out!

So very thankful that Hayley and I could share this day canning with Ma. Looking forward to sharing many more days in the kitchen learning all the secrets of her famous recipes

Growing up

Not sure when Hayley became old enough to be a acne facemask wearing girl??

Friday nite fishin'

After a crazy, busy week we needed some relaxing family time. It was the perfect weather for some fishing! I love that we live so close to the Lake that we can walk about the back door and down the hill to some awesome fishing spots!  The kids are all about fishing and are always asking to go--free entertainment that keeps them busy for hours.

Brian had passed this creek a while ago and wanted to try it out, well we walked there and it was too low. The level of the Lake is dropping now so lots of the good spots are not so good.

Hunter caught the only fish of the night!

Pretty wildflowers all over the place

Here's to a calm weekend before school starts next week

12 weeks later...FREEDOM

I waited 12 long weeks for this day to arrive, being able to wear 2 shoes and drive!!

My right leg/ankle is still swollen and is expected to be for up to the next 12-24 month.

Good thing that I can drive because this is how I woke up...
COVERED in poison ivy!! I have no idea how I got this, I did pull weeds last week. I have NEVER been allergic to this before. I am talking, face, arms, legs, stomach--all random places and patches. I DROVE (geeze, what a fun first trip out) to the doctors and got a month supply of Prednisone and an itching cream. Talking about a looking like a hot mess, my arms look like "meth arms"

I felt good all day long, ran some errands and then had open house tonight. My foot didn't bother me too bad, just stiff and I am slow--afraid to walk to fast. Hoping each day finds more steps, strength and less swelling. BABY STEPS

Grandpa Farnsley turns 8-0!

Grandpa Farnsley turned 80 at the end of the month so we had a little surprise party for him this past Saturday at Uncle Steve's. The weather was picture perfect and the whole family was in town.

This is the first time in 5 years that all the Farnsley's have been in town together. 5 kids in 5 different states, and then you add grandkids and great grandkids---life is in full swing

The kids were so excited to play with Broc and Caroline, its been since Hayley and Caroline were 4 since we have seen them! (These are actually Brian's cousins, his Aunt and I were pregnant with our kids at the same time. We laugh because she's 15 years older then me!)

Great Grandma and Grandpa Farnsley

Happy 80th Birthday, Grandpa! We hope that this year brings you health and happiness as you enjoy retirement.

CC practice

Cross Country is in full swing and Hunter has been having practice every night. This Momma has been making the best of the things and this means quality family time while waiting. I am going to start walking the "loop" next week while he practices. I have to admit, I am SO jealous that he is getting to run and I have to watch!!

Brian and Hayley have been finding ways to entertain themselves this week

Looking forward to many CC meets and all the hard work that is being put in pay off

Drive In

Cool Saturday night. 2 new movies. Perfect weather. Summer ending. Drive In calling our names

We headed over to Indiana to pick up my favorite Minion, Keegan
grabbed a quick bite to eat at Mc 's,

and hit the playground,

I was determined to make the hike up the hill to play with the kids

Brian got our spot all ready for the movie--
blow up air mattress just for me (I am spoiled)

this is the life

Kids were all settled in the back of the truck waiting for the movie to start

Why, oh why, does summer have to be over?!
